After bouncing around in gale force winds, rain and choppy waters for the last couple of days on the western side of Pensacola, the Captain decided we should go forward as far as we could get under cloudy skies when the batteries got topped off about noon. Despide TOTALLY overcast conditions,(you couldn't even tell where the sun was), high winds and choppy seas we made 8 miles at 2 mph balancing the motor consumption with what little solar energy we had and slowly draining the batteries. At the end of the day the sun finally came out just as we found a nice anchorage in Little Sabine Bay in Pensacola Beach. The forecast is for sunny skies with a moderate headwind for the next week! Tomorrow it's time to start putting the western Florida panhandle to our stern.
Fort Pickens close to where we anchored Thursday.
This shows the strong winds that we have been facing for days now! I'm hoping tomorrow will begin the sunny skies and fair winds part of this trip! :-)
Pensacola Beach, our goal was in sight and the clouds were starting to part. Good thing too because the batteries where almost dead.
A quick stop for some shore leave for Radar and some supplies, before we anchored out for the night.
This is how it is everywhere we stop. People get excited about the big solar boat and Carter loves to water the grassroots!
This was a peaceful anchorage for the night in Little Sabine Bay, Pensacola Beach.
What a nice change!
The sunset on the bay, chicken on the grill, and rum for the Captain.
Sunrise this morning on the other side of Little Sabine Bay. It quickly hid behind a highrise condo so we weighed anchor and got going early this morning even though the batteries weren't charged yet. We'll run slow to start and let them get caught up before we put the hammer down and Pensacola Beach behind us.
