Preparation for Launch

With all the panels and linear actuators installed, we have decided it's time to get out there and give it a test run.  There is an Energy Expo near Pensacola, Florida that Carter would like to attend so we decided it's perfect timing to test the electric propulsion system followed up by our attendance at the Expo.  We both have been super busy finishing projects and prioritizing other projects that can be completed along the way (which are mostly the cosmetic details that I will be completing.)

There was a little excitement at the marina that we took time out to witness.  A man and his wife have been building a catamaran at the marina for several years and it was finally time to haul it into the water.  This is always exciting and there was a pretty fair crowd to witness the event.

That was cool...now back to work.

One of the projects Carter had to finish for me was the salon area.  The wall needed to be completely cleared of the masonite and glue and an old  2x4 support that was anchored to it. Carter had tried to use this as support for one of the settees but it made the seat against that wall too high.  So it come out, even if it didn't want to.

We looked at several options for covering the wall and we decided on cork since we want to hang maps and such. Besides it was the easiest and most inexpensive idea we came up with. Should we decide we don't like it then we'll glue carpet right on top of the cork. Carpet is what is on the port side of the salon so it would continue the same look. So far, we like the cork and the map.

So here is how it looks temporarily until I have a chance to get the Sailrite out and begin the cushion covers.  Ol' Radar likes the settee!

Knocked him right out...nap time.

Carter also made a step under the settee for me.  It also creates more storage for my sewing supplies.

The tops lift giving me storage for bolts of fabric and sewing supplies.  Cool for me!

Carter covered the hole in the wall in the galley beside the fridge and I used extra cork to cover it.  I also have some painting to do.  I have white and navy blue to freshen up the walls.  I can't wait to get started and see the results!  That project will be coming soon along this trip.

I took my sewing machine down to my brothers house to do some repair work on the awning for his Hi-Lo travel trailer.  It's nice to be able to helpt family with their projects.

This was the first time I have worked with vinyl and the machine worked like a charm!  Love it!  Can't wait to get started on my cushion covers.
