Here Carter is removing the splash guard that had some serious deterioration. This will be changed when the new pilot house is complete. You can see from the color swatches in this picure the color that the boat will be when complete. Light tan with black and maroon trim.
We've taken a little bit of time off in between work here of late. These old bodies of ours are dictating that we take this hard work just a little bit slower. We ventured out a couple nites ago to listen to live music at our favorite coffee shop / internet cafe. It was a nice diversion from our work and last night we went out for a steak dinner.
Yesterday, after a full day of sanding on the superstructure, Carter took me for a ride in the whaler to get some sunset pictures.
I was surprised to see this barge go through the bridge as I thought there wasn't any commercial business on this river since trucks took over transporting goods.
Checking out some of the other boats out on the river.
It was an opportunity to see our work area from a different view. Here you can see the Halcyon, the Airstream and Carters truck. The Halcyon doesn't look so bad from this side. Nice reflection on the river also.
Close up does show the need to haul out and paint the sides and bottom.
Nice sunset going on in the background.
